What an amazing PowerPoint presentation on postpartum. Your PowerPoint got my attention due to my passion for labor, delivery, and postpartum care. The PowerPoint flows well, and the grammar/punctuation is very neat. I have learned from your presentation that the postpartum women lose between 700-1000 mL of fluid a day for milk production so staying hydrated is especially important. I also learned that Hispanic women are a lot influenced by their culture when it comes to diet and health.
After looking at your food menu, I do not think there is enough protein in the sample menu. For breakfast, there is only one egg that accounts for roughly 6 gr of protein, and for lunch, I was not able to see anything that contains protein. Since the woman is in the postpartum period and is breastfeeding, it is required to have around 71gr of protein a day (Grodner, Stump, & Dorner, 2020). I believe that nutrition for this client is vital. It will be especially important to incorporate teaching about health and diet in the care plan. A good recommendation would be MyPlate on choosing the right sources of protein, carbs, and fats and the right amount (US Department of Agriculture Choose My Plate, n.d).
Question for the team:
How many grams of carbs, proteins, and fats does your sample menu consist of? Does your menu contain enough nutrients based on the postpartum needs?
