Like most areas of the country, the heroin epidemic has effected the village of Columbiaville. This public health problem has taken lives, yet outlined above are theories and models that could be used to help reduce the impact of the problem. The social ecological model provides an overview of different levels to help guide the intervention. Next, the health belief model helps to inform public health professionals why people are not seeking treatment. Finally, the TRA/TPB provides a framework for understanding why people are still using and how to help change behavioral intentions. This problem will not disappear overnight, but there are ways to help improve the situation for the residens of Columbaivlle.
